Lyndsey Fry, forward from Chandler, AZ and a junior on the Harvard Women’s Ice Hockey team, was recently named as one of the 23 players on the  US Women’s National Team that will compete in the 2012 Four Nations Cup in Vantaa and Kerava, Finland from November 5-10. The Four Nations Cup is an annual tournament featuring the four top women’s hockey teams in the world from the USA, Canada, Finland, and Sweden.

The Four Nations team is coached by Katey Stone, who is also the head coach of Team USA. In addition to Lyndsey, 10 other collegiate players join 12 past Olympians to form the 23 member team. Team USA is the defending Four Nations Cup champion and looks to retain the Cup. Team USA is comprised of players for 12 states. Lyndsey is the only Arizona native to be named to the team.

Reagan Carey, director of Women’s Hockey for USA Hockey, said “From the veterans Olympians to the newcomers, we are confident in this team’s ability to give our program a great start to the 2012-2013 season.” Coach Stone  commented “I feel this tournament will provide an excellent gauge of where we are a a team as we continue to evaluate players and progress toward the 2014 Olympics.”

The team will participate in a training camp at the New York Rangers’ Madison Square Garden Training Facility in Terrytown, NY from October 30-Nov 4th. It is fitting that the start of camp is the Lyndsey’s birthday. From there, they will travel to Finland for the tournament start on November 6th with a game against Sweden at the Tikkurila Valttie arena.

My daughter, who looks up to Lyndsey as a role model, wrote this about her. A full profile on Lyndsey will be posted soon.

Lyndsey Fry plays on the women’s ice hockey team of Harvard in the ECAC conference. She is studying engineering there and she wants to work at Disney building rides. Her goal is to be in the olympics soon. She has been training hard for the goal for a long time now. She is very close to getting her goal accomplished. She has  been chosen for the Four Nation USA hockey team.
