Sam Gagner is a slob, Devan Dubnyk is a right wing, and Tobias Rieder is just plain awesome.

Welcome back to Edmonton!

  • I’m always kind of shocked by teams that make inter-division swaps, but the Coyotes and the Edmonton Oilers have more than a few former players facing off against old friends Sunday night.

Although Sam Gagner‘s former roommate and best friend forever Andrew Cogliano has also departed from the Great White North, he’s got plenty of friends to go home to: and he seems pretty excited about it. Backup netminder Devan Dubnyk also has plenty of old pals to return to, and 2011 fourth-round pick Tobias Rieder… well, he pretty much gets to go show off that the Coyotes got the better end of that trade (sorry, Kale Kessy).

Trades aren’t always all smiles, though. So, in an effort to honor the return home for these guys in a lighthearted way (and as a little tribute to how much time I waste learning really useless things about hockey players), I thought I’d do a throwback to some of the memories from Edmonton that have made both Gagner and Dubnyk who they are today.

Trust me: by the end, you’ll be both incredibly pumped for Sunday night’s game and immensely proud to call these guys Coyotes.
