The Arizona Coyotes Face The Flames, Canucks, and Ducks In Their Last Three Games This Season

It seems like the season just flew by, and here we are down to our last three games of the 2014-2015 season. The results, of course, could have been better. Finishing with their worst record since their arrival in the Valley of the Sun in 1995-96, was not what the team was expected to do, but nonetheless it is what it is. They know where they need to improve for next season, and with the prospects they will put on the ice, they should fare better.

Let’s analyze the last three games and see what may go down:

Tuesday, April 7th vs. Calgary Flames

So far this season, the Flames have owned the Arizona Coyotes, winning all four contests, while outscoring them 17-8. The Flames are right in the thick of the Western Conference playoffs hunt, with a total of 93 points. L.A., and Minnesota are right behind them with 92 points each. One team will not qualify, so this game is a big one for the Flames.

For the Arizona Coyotes not so much. They pretty well have 29th place tied up, and can’t go any lower, since the Sabres have only 14 regulation/overtime wins, and that would be the tie breaker for who finishes last. The Yotes have 19 ROW. They will be playing loosely, and for contracts for next season, or sharpening their skill level for next season.

Prediction: Flames 4, Coyotes 2

Thursday, April 9th vs. Vancouver Canucks

The Arizona Coyotes have a much better record (2-2) against the Canucks this season. The Canucks are just two points ahead of the Flames in the Western Conference standings, and need a win. They have not been tearing up the league with a 5-4-1 record in their last ten games, and have lost two straight.

The Canucks face the Kings tonight in a playoff atmosphere type game. If the Canucks win, and the Jets lose in regulation to the Wild, the Canucks will clinch a playoff spot. Their last three games are at home, and they are an impressive 26-6-2 when scoring first in a game.

The Arizona Coyotes can really make life complicated for the Canucks, and if they lose to the Kings tonight (4-6-15) this game will be VITAL to their post season competition participation.

Prediction 1): Coyotes 3, Canucks 2 (If Canucks clinch playoff spot)

Prediction 2): Canucks 4, Coyotes 1 (If Canucks don’t clinch a playoff spot on 4-6-15)

Saturday, April 11th vs. Anaheim Ducks

Seeing as how the Ducks are tied with the N.Y. Rangers for the highest point total of 107, you would think the Arizona Coyotes would just roll over and play dead… think again puck-head! The Desert Dogs have a 2-2 record against the Anaheim squad, with two of the four games going to a shootout in their favor.

The Ducks really won’t be doing anything except maybe playing for home ice advantage throughout the playoffs, which is nothing to sneeze at. Still, it’s a home season ending game for the Yotes, and they will want to finish this lousy season off with a victory, and a good taste in their mouths for next season.

Prediction: Coyotes 2, Ducks 1, with the Coyotes winning the shootout with a Mark Arcobello goal….(who else?)
