Another Young Arizona Coyotes Prospect Has Inked A Contract To Play In The NHL

Ryan MacInnis finished up his second OHL season with the Kitchener Rangers a little quicker than he wanted, as the Rangers fell in six games to the London Knights. He then received some better news on Friday, as the Arizona Coyotes announced that they have signed the 19 year old to a three year entry level contract.

MacInnis has shown some improvement this season by increasing his production. He put up 67 points in 62 regular season games and eight points in six playoff games. While in his first season he only tallied 37 points in 66 games as an OHL rookie. His father was Al MacInnis, a NHL star.

The Arizona Coyotes seem to have a perplexity to drafting sons of famous NHL players. Max Domi’s father was Tie Domi.

Per club policy the terms were not released but General Manager Don Maloney did have the following to say

"“We are very pleased to sign Ryan to an entry-level contract,” said Maloney. “Ryan is a big, talented two-way centerman with good hands and playmaking ability. We were impressed with his progress this season and look forward to watching him continue to develop”"

Macinnis will most likely spend another year in Kitchener next season as he continues to develop and refine his game.As a center man he should have Coyote fans excited for a future that includes Martin Hanzal, Christian Dvorak, Laurent Dauphin and possibly Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel up the middle.

If you’re strong up the middle, good things happen. The teams who won Stanley Cups have proven that theory.

MacInnis’ Scouting report courtesy of Elite Prospects:

MacInnis has a tall, lanky build but has some good potential to add strength. His speed currently lacks burst but his skating does have some upside. He’s an instinctual player who uses solid positioning to remain in the offensive play and has a heavy shot but needs to work on his release and accuracy.
