Arizona Coyotes Sign Christian Fischer to Entry Level Deal

The 32nd overall pick, who will be attending Notre Dame this fall now has a three-year entry level contract with the Arizona Coyotes. He notched 31g, 33-a, for 64 points in 66 games last season for the U.S. Natiuonal U18 team. Those stats put him sixth on the team in scoring, and third in goals.

At 6” 2”, 212 pounds he comes to play with NHL size and power. He’s more of a power forward, and every NHL team needs more players who can crash the net, and be able to hold their own against NHL size bodies. Maybe a Shane Doan type??

Christian Fischer told John Fischer of SB Nation (no relation) about his game:

"”Just being a power forward,” he said. “Take the puck hard to the net, but also make the skilled plays and put the puck in the back of the net. I’d like to be more physical. With my body, getting in the fore-check and throwing in a big hit every once in a while isn’t too bad.”"

Chris Dilks of SB Nation has this say about Fischer:

One of the most physically ready in the entire draft, highly competitive forward Chirstian Fischer is a coach’s dream. A quiet leader on and off the ice, Fischer is a dependable two-way player with good offensive upside, and is a very coachable player.

Willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win, Fischer is a 200 foot player that may be a future NHL captain. Projects on the high end as a second line center in the NHL, but may be best suited in a third line-support type role. The type of player you want on your team when the meaningful games are on the line.

Those are some good comments about yet another young prospect to join the ranks of the Arizona Coyotes. A player who fits into Head Coach Dave Tippett to a tee.. “ a 200 foot player” is probably the main reason the Yotes drafted Fischer.

With the likes of Max Domi, Anthony Duclair, Brendan Perlini, Christian Dvorak, Dylan Strome, Nick Merkley already looking to wear an Arizona Coyotes sweater, the future of the Desert Dogs looks refreshingly exciting and promising.
