The Arizona Coyotes 2015 First Round draft pick Dylan Strome has been recognized as the OHL Player-of-the-Week.

Dylan Strome is still succeeding in the Ontario Hockey League while being recognized as their Player-of-the-Week for the week ending November 8, 2015.

Strome had eight points in two games, and a plus/minus rating of +1. The  young centerman led the league in scoring for that term.

Strome lead the Erie Otters in these games against Peterborough and Windsor while helping the Otters to a split, and maintained their second place position divisional record with a 13-2-1 mark.

Strome is averaging two points a game for the season, while becoming the focal point of the team since Connor McDavid moved on to the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL. Last year Strome scored 129 points in 68 games for the Otters.

Many skeptics claimed that Strome would not perform as well without his star team-mate Connor McDavid. Nothing can be further from the truth. In fact, he is playing better just to show the critics he is a leader, with or without McDavid on his team.

Strome is an integral part of the Arizona Coyotes plans in the very near future.  After being drafted number three overall in this past spring’s NHL Entry Draft, and nearly making the final squad out of training camp, Dylan Strome is continuing to grow and develop.

As I mentioned in this article, the importance of Strome cannot be understated. The Arizona Coyotes have been searching for a franchise center-man for a very long time. Despite having many offers for their draft slot, General Manager Don Maloney and the front office stuck to their guns and selected the guy they needed. Strome is, as Elite Prospects stated:

“All-in-all, Dylan Strome is a player who wants to win more than anybody else, a person who takes it upon himself to do everything he can to help his team win, and a leader who provides his team with the motivation and will that it takes to win.”
