After the Arizona Coyotes suffered one of their worst losses of the season, they now get a week off to rest and recuperate ahead of February 2nd’s showdown with the Pacific Division leading Kings.

For the Arizona Coyotes, the issues that plagued them on Tuesday night were familiar.

Special teams play was abysmal and that coupled with the poor start that happens all too often was too big of a hill to climb.

Michael Stone has now had two nightmare games in Winnipeg this season and this time he’s going to have a solid week to sit and reflect on his hometown debacle.

It seems there is just some kind of mental aspect to his play that is affecting him when he goes home to face the Jets. Whether that is trying too hard or overthinking, let’s be glad the Coyotes don’t play there too often.

Louis Domingue‘s save percentage dropped to .924 after last night. He went 17 appearances before having a night where he gave up five goals and he’s only given up four goals one other time as well.

Mike Smith gave up four or more goals five times in his 22 starts, while Anders Lindback has given up four or more in four of his 17 appearances. Beyond the “bad games”, Lindback has held the opposition to two goals or less more often than his peers as well.

With all of that out of the way, Louis is going to be fine. It’s a shame that like Michael Stone he will have to sit with this game for a solid week after being so stellar in the previous 16 games, but that’s the life of an NHL goalie. Some nights are going to go badly, particularly if your coach starts you on a back-to-back.

It happens to Henrik Lundqvist. It happens to Braden Holtby. It happens to Carey Price.

Domingue seems mentally strong in the same way that those names above are as well. Whether he’ll be a franchise goaltender in the future is a question for another day, but he’s shown the ability to shake the bad goals off. No reason he can’t shake off a bad game as well.

Dave Tippett told the media after the game, “If you want to overthink this game, it’s wrong. Just park it and move on to the break, and we’ll come back better out of the break.”

That about sums it up.

Sadly there’s no more Coyotes hockey for a solid week. What are we supposed to do with our free time now?

"Not much went right for the Coyotes in a 5-2 loss to the Jets Tuesday in front of 15,294 at MTS Centre, a compilation of missed chances, costly breakdowns and tough bounces that can’t linger when the season resumes if the Coyotes plan to keep a hold on a playoff position."

Alex Radulov agrees on new KHL deal, ending NHL drama: Report [Puck Daddy – Greg Wyshynski]

"Reports out of Russia are that the two-year deal is worth over $10.7 million (U.S.), or 840 million rubles, which sounds a lot more impressive. He’s in his fourth season with CSKA Moscow, and has 54 points in 46 games. Last season, he had 71 points in 46 games. Bottom line: He’s one of the KHL’s most accomplished offensive players, and biggest names."
