Arizona Coyotes Shock Dallas Stars With 6-3 Victory
The Arizona Coyotes shocked the Dallas Stars with an offensive explosion on Thursday night en route to a 6-3 victory.
The Arizona Coyotes won a crazy game against the Dallas Stars on Thursday night to keep their noses firmly in the playoff hunt.
They did so on the backs of their two rising stars, Max Domi and Anthony Duclair. Martin Hanzal also continued his resurgence.
The Duke was the catalyst for two Max Domi goals. The first was a beautiful breakway backhander and the other a rebound created by the Duke’s own scoring attempt.
Tyler Gaudet scored his first NHL goal on a feed from Kyle Chipchura, who promptly dug the puck out of the net for the youngster to take home.
The Arizona Coyotes did just enough defensively to stymie the many rushes and open looks created by the Dallas Stars’ potent offensively talent. Despite Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn both scoring, Louis Domingue was album to hold down the fort well enough for the Yotes to pull ahead and hang on for the victory.

Player Performance
Louis Domingue saved 36 of 39 shots he faced tonight and appears to be well over whatever ailed him around the All-Star break. It also helps that the team is now scoring in front of him again.
Martin Hanzal is back, baby. He has 8 points in his past five games, four of which were goals. When the big man is going, the entire offense is humming. If he can keep it up, they may keep this playoff race interesting a little longer than we expected.
Anthony Duclair has been such a revelation after his temporary demotion to the fourth line. He continued to pay dividends tonight with three assists to move himself up to 33 points on the season. He and Domi will clearly top 40 points this season. Could they both cross the 45 point plateau and push 50?
Oliver Ekman-Larsson – bar one bad pinch that resulted in the Seguin goal – had another stellar night and notched another assist.
Last but not least, Tyler Gaudet got his first NHL goal in the 3rd period. Congrats! Props to #goodguy Kyle Chipchura for the assist and the puck retrieval.
Arizona Coyotes Player of the Game
Nothing less than maximum domination. That’s what Max Domi (and his pal Duke) exhibited on the ice tonight in Glendale. Two goals – one an absolute beauty – and an assist to kickstart his team back into this game and then move firmly in front.
What a kid.
The View From The 200 Level
The Arizona Coyotes put up 42 shots tonight on the Dallas Stars.
The same Stars who already have 80 points on the season and are a mere point back on the Chicago Blackhawks for tops in the Central Division despite having played two less games.
That’s a quality victory.
The kids did it all tonight. Three points for Domi. Three points for Duclair. 36 saves for Domingue. The first NHL goal for Gaudet.
Everyone has repeated this mantra all season long – “the future is bright in the desert” – and tonight we saw where things could be heading. It was wonderful.
