Arizona Coyotes AHL affiliate Tucson Roadrunners add three players to their roster prior to the upcoming 2016-17 season.

The Arizona Coyotes season is fast approaching. Their newly relocated affiliate in Tucson is also gearing up for their inaugural season at Tucson Convention Center.

Featuring a roster set to be laden with highly rated Coyotes’ prospects, the Roadrunners have made moves to fill in some gaps and add depth.

The organization announced the signing of three players, including one who is a former sixth round pick of the Yotes.

Here’s the Tucson Roadrunners press release on the signings of Hunter Fejes, Mark Cooper, and Austin Lotz:

"Fejes, 22, was originally a sixth round draft choice (#178 overall) by Arizona in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-1, 192-pound left wing spent four years at Colorado College before turning pro after a senior season in which he set personal bests in goals (13) and points (22) last year. He then appeared in 10 games with the AHL Springfield Falcons registering no points and two minutes in penalties."

"The 24-year-old Cooper also just turned pro after completing four years with Bowling Green State University last season. In 157 games played at the NCAA level, the Scarborough, ON native scored 45 goals and 46 assists for 91 points and a +20 rating. The 6-2, 190-pound right wing then signed with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves after the season ended, appearing in two games with no points or penalty minutes."

"Lotz hails from Winnipeg, MB and just completed his junior hockey career in the Western Hockey League. The 21-year-old spent four seasons with the Everett Silvertips and part of another with the Medicine Hat Tigers. He appeared in 170 games with a 75-63-17 record, 2.96 GAA, .902 save percentage and 11 shutouts. The St. Adolphe, MB native was a part of the gold medal-winning Team Canada squad at the 2012-13 U-18 world junior championships."

Depending on the impact of Head Coach Mark Lamb and the pieces left to him by Arizona Coyotes General Manager John Chayka and Head Coach Dave Tippett, this Roadrunners unit might be a formidable opponent in the AHL’s Pacific Division.

The Coyotes organization has worked hard over the last couple of years to grow this sport in the desert.

They are spending money in a way that fan’s are unused to seeing, and there’s a crescendo of good moves set to lift the organization in the near future.
