Arizona Coyotes’ Captain Shane Doan is set to conduct the Phoenix Symphony on Friday.

Shane Doan has made a career out of stellar leadership with the Arizona Coyotes.

He’s never took the reins of a project quite like this.

Doan is set to conduct the Phoenix Symphony in their rendition of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ on Friday. It’s fair to say his selection is intriguing.

The captain told the Arizona Coyotes website that he was shocked to get the call as well.

“The people with The Phoenix Symphony are very nice people and they reached out to me to do this,” Doan said.

“At first I thought maybe they’d dialed the wrong number because I have absolutely zero, and I mean ZERO, musical skills. I can’t carry a note whatsoever, I can’t keep tempo and I’m tone deaf. I can’t even whistle or hum. But I’m very honored and excited to do this. Hopefully it will be something that’s fun for everyone involved.”

It’ll be quite the experience for Doan, and he’ll join fellow Arizona great Larry Fitzgerald who conducted the symphony in 2013.
