The Arizona Coyotes have failed to score in three out of their first four games this season, but their continued persistence will eventually come good.

The Coyotes have started the season 1-3-0 with their solitary win coming in a 3-2 shootout against the Anaheim Ducks.

The Coyotes have lost to the Ducks (1-0) as well as the Dallas Stars (3-0) and Buffalo Sabres (3-0), but these games are not a great representation of the effort the team has put in.

According to Arizona 98.7FM, the Coyotes have so far out-shot their opponents an impressive 146 to 93 but have only managed three goals.

Ric Tocchet’s team are still without the likes of Christian Dvorak and Alex Galchenyuk, two players that are expected to be regular contributors in front of the net.

Both have begun to practice with the team again and will be huge boosts for when they are ready to return to the line-up.

The fact that the Coyotes have managed to get so many shots in such a short time is a testament to the way the team has played this season.

Despite losing games by seemingly large margins, they have pushed their opponents hard and have not backed down.

They have been doing this whilst without arguably their biggest goal threat in Galchenyuk, who should easily score 20+ goals with his new team – especially with the number of chances that are being created.

If the Coyotes can continue this persistence, the goals will come and the team will be in a far stronger position than where they finished last season.

It took this team just three games to get their first win of the season, far sooner than the 2017/18 team.

It is easy to feel pessimistic about a team that can’t find the net, but often it is teams that do not create many chances that this is a problem for.

For the Arizona Coyotes, it is about finding ways of beating opposition goaltenders and making the large number of shots they are taking count.
