Eric Belanger: A 'Thank You' and Welcome

In all honesty I was a little shocked when I heard the news about Eric Belanger signing with the Coyotes. Why you may ask – because it was not that long ago I was living out in Washington D.C. and I can still remember the excitement when the rumor leaked that he was going to resign with the Capitals.

The hockey fan’s out in DC loved him – he gave his blood, sweat, and teeth for that team. Yet here he is in Phoenix and now claiming he doesn’t know when he’ll trust people within the business again.

Thanks a lot DC.

Belanger was on Team 990this morning letting off a little steam about the situation. If you don’t want to listen (or can’t yet because you are at work) Joe Yerdon over at Pro Hockey Talk has a re cap of how Belanger is upset with the Capitals for breaking verbal contract agreement

From a hockey fan that watched you play out in DC; and took my kids to watch you practice I just want to say THANK YOUfor everything you did for the Capitals.  I wish you the best of luck with the Coyotes.  I’ve seen first hand the dedication and pride you have when you put on your sweater.  Do not let what happened on the east coast take anything away from you.  Welcome back to the Western Conference Eric Belanger – it’s just better out here.

The Capitals loss is the Coyotes gain.
