To say that the Coyotes have been up and down this season would be a major understatement. After losing five straight games at home, the Coyotes have won two straight games at Jobing.com Arena against two quality opponents. They got a 3-0 win over the Avalanche tonight.

It is pretty easy to figure how Phoenix has suddenly turned things around. They have returned to Coyotes Hockey that won them so many games last season. That is great defense, great goaltending and some timely goalscoring. The Yotes have had all three of those ingredients the last two games.

Phoenix got a lead right out of the gate. Just three minutes in, Radim Vrbata would score past Craig Anderson for his 12th goal of the season. He would get his second goal of the night later in the game on the power play during the third period to put the game away for the Desert Dogs. Scottie Upshall got the other Coyotes goal late in the second period. It was Upshall’s 16th of the season.

This game was once again all on Ilya Bryzgalov though. The big Russian stopped all 25 shots that he faced for his second consecutive shutout and now his fifth of the season. After struggling his first two games to start the second half of the season, Bryz is starting to return to his form of late last season. That should scare teams throughout the entire Western Conference as we inch closer to the end of the season.

The Coyotes will now see if they can continue their resurgence on the road in Dallas on Wednesday. The game against the Stars will start at 5
