Game On: Coyotes Get O’Reilly for 4th Round Pick

Well Kyle Turris & company played there card to the media this week. To no one’s surprise, Kyle Turris would like a trade out of Phoenix. Now the world officially knows this, thanks to Turris’s agent. Don Maloney has kept his foot down and continues to insist that Turris will not be traded. I for one commend Maloney’s stand, but worry that at some point a trade may be the best thing for the organization.

The next chip has been played, and this time by Don Maloney. He has acquired center, Cal O’Rielly from the Nashville Predators for a 2012 4th round draft choice. O’Reilly is not a name that will blow anyone away, but it is a solid depth move for the organization. Recently, the Coyotes have traded defensive center Petteri Nokaleinen. O’Reilly is a creative center, and has a chance to use that skill in Glendale. This move improves the offense down the middle at the NHL level, while showing Turris that the organization can move on with or without him. This could be a last ditch effort to throw some pressure on Turris and his recently out going agent.
