Jobing.com Arena With NHL Contract Extended 30 Days

Now that the contract to conduct Phoenix Coyotes games at Jobing.com has been extended 30 days by the NHL and City of Glendale, there are certain facts that can be ascertained.

  1. The NHL would not extend the contract for only 30 days if there was a chance they (the NHL) were going to retain ownership for the season.
  2. The NHL would not extend the contract should Mr. Jamison not have his finances in order. If Mr. Jamison was far away, the NHL would negotiate for a longer term contract or walk away.
  3. The NHL would have walked away if there another location to park the team for a season or two while new ownership was found.
  4. The NHL is doing all it can to sell the team to Mr. Jamison and keep the team in Phoenix.

Numbers 3 and 4 are significant as Canadian media will get tired of covering the CBA meeting and cast its gaze upon the Coyotes. It is then we will hear the stories of financial problems with no sources given. Kansas City, Portland, even Las Vegas will be mentioned as possible cities. They will not list the small capacity of their arenas or provide details on how you would line up sponsors, sell tickets, get a working sales and support staff in a couple of months.

It appears that our friends in Cupertino, CA have taken care of Mr. Balsillie and his little company Research in Motion. There have not been other names to surface as suitors. We are all in with Mr. Jamison.
