Phoenix Coyotes, Glendale CIty Council, and a vote. Joyce Clark.

Joyce Clark spoke about the future of the Phoenix Coyotes. A review will be held today by the Glendale City Council to discuss the terms up for vote on November 27th.

After nearly 4 years of angst over the gloomy future for the Phoenix Coyotes, a little light is growing brighter by the day.  Ever since the embattled franchise came to the desert they have been stumbling over hurdles. From an arena not built for hockey that only provided half the ice for view to over 3500 seats. A new arena built on the opposite side of the valley. Then you have Jerry Moyes who after using Wayne Gretzky as his Pied Piper tried to personally destroy the franchise and ship it North. The NHL has owned the team in the interim, still believing this market can sustain a viable franchise. There has been a bit of resistance to the Coyotes staying in Arizona. Of course you have the Goldwater Institute who has been a rabid Pitt Bull suing over every little actionable thing. They dug up 2 Glendale residents out of almost a million and tried to push their petitions through. They failed in so many attempts while citing they were just looking out for the good of the citizens of Glendale. They love Glendale and it’s tax paying residents so much. Yet didn’t say a word when the Arizona Cardinals or even the Spring training facility drained the city of about a billion dollars. John McCain has been a proud supporter and has called out GWI for it’s tactics. With board members with the Arizona Diamondbacks related to board members of GWI it will come as a shocker they never said anything about then Bank One Ballpark being built. Heck they don’t really say much. Try calling them and telling them you are a concerned Canadian citizen. You will get transferred to a lady who will ask what is your donation amount. Ah but enough about that sham of a “watchdog”. Self-proclaimed like the young neighborhood watchdog in Florida who killed a youngster.

Joyce Clark said (and I’m summarizing) they will vote next week to approve a reworked Arena management fee that drops a high of $17 mill down to $11 mill as well as includes penalties for lockout or other work stoppages. She claims Westgate was meant to be a three legged stool including Retail, Entertainment, and Sports. Also she adds that if Jamison not only buys the team but also buys the Arena they will receive money back and more to cover all costs incurred etc. It all comes down to the vote next week on November 27th and all fans are encouraged to attend.

Joyce added if the Coyotes were to leave the City of Glendale still has a $9 million dollar construction bond to pay back with no revenue coming in. If they try to keep the Arena going it will cost $6 mill per year and without an anchor tenant it will be close to impossible to sustain it. Thousands of job will be lost overall. It appears the City of Glendale is ALL IN with Westgate and the Phoenix Coyotes.
