When people look back at the resurgence of the Phoenix Coyotes, one man will be whispered about. Head coach Dave Tippett.

From day 1 he was playing against a stacked deck, but like a magician he made us all wonder in amazement, “How did he do that!?”

I wrote a few articles about Tippett and was inspired by an article by ESPN which showed him at the Ice Den getting ready for a game early on. He guile and determination has turned around a franchise. He wins because he puts his mind to winning and inspires his boys to play for him. If it all goes bad for us here in America I will go wherever he goes. I believe in him this much. So do the fans and the players who skate for him. He uses Biznasty like a sacrificial pawn and Biz loves him for it. He isn’t very tall but he casts a shadow over everyone with his system and desire to win. It’s not your chest bumping, cry baby determination. The NBA has that. LeBron. No he does great, defies the odds, defuses the bomb, saves the day, and quickly walks into the locker room rarely even cracking a smile. He is an old school gem.

Keeping Tippett makes this a franchise who many will want a part of. Free agents will want to play for him. Youth will respond to him and we or the lucky team who we relocate to will get a great coach who won’t take days off due to ego or complacency.

Many teams were hoping to snag Dave Tippett to be their coach including the New York Rangers. No one turns down a chance to star in the Big Apple eh? Not when you have a group of men who are committed to win and generally care about each other. The deal will keep Dave here for the next 5 years. Hopefully here = Glendale!

The core of the Phoenix Coyotes are in place and it’s time to pursue Lord Stanley’s Cup!
