The Arizona Coyotes, after a short one game on home ice, venture to the road again taking them to Brooklyn, Montreal, and Winnipeg for three tough opponents this week.

  • Game 18: Arizona Coyotes at New York (really Brooklyn) Islanders – November 16, 2015

** Here are the Howlin’ Hockey Editor’s Predictions for the Arizona Coyotes games the week of 11-15 to 11-21-15

The Arizona Coyotes didn’t fare too well against the Islanders last season, losing a close game 1-0 in Arizona, and then going down 5-1 in the second game. The Islanders were a team who totaled 101 points last season, good enough to finish second in the Metropolitan Division. They were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the tough Washington Capitals, four games to three.

This season they are an unimpressive 8-6-3 for 19 points, with John Tavares leading the team in scoring with seven goals and seven assists in 14 games. He missed three games due to injury, and when he is gone this team struggles. They had better hope that he stays healthy if they wish to finish as strong as last year.

They have beaten some tough teams (Nashville, Winnipeg, St. Louis), but have dropped some other games they should have won (Carolina, Buffalo). The Coyotes need to take advantage of their inconsistency.

The Arizona Coyotes are playing very well as of late, and sport a three game winning streak going into Columbus to play the Blue Jackets on the road.

Speaking of the road, the Coyotes have become quite the road warriors with a 6-2-1 record for a desirable 13 points out of a possible 18, or a .722 points percentage. Don’t they wish they can continue that record? They can if they play the way they have been. They have started out falling behind in games of late, but seem to get inspired by the end of the first period, or second stanza. With their renewed firepower of the “Killer D’s”, they need to put the pressure on the Islanders, and let them make mistakes, which the Arizona Coyotes can capitalize on, and take another road victory.

Prediction: New York Islanders 4, Arizona Coyotes 3 (Overtime, Tavares scores game winner)
