Former Arizona Coyotes enforcer John Scott played in his first career NHL All-Star game on Sunday night. He scored a few goals and engaged in a mock fight with Patrick Kane to make sure it was a memorable one.

The Arizona Coyotes traded John Scott in a move designed by the NHL to prevent Scott’s appearance in the NHL All-Star game.

After he scored two goals and engaged in a mock fight with Central Division captain Patrick Kane, all fans can wonder is why?

Beyond the sheer exuberance and joy on his face, John Scott contributed on the score sheet early.

It wasn’t the only goal he scored on the night.

He even netted on the breakaway.

Brent Burns found John Scott again on the breakaway and Scott was able to beat the goaltender and score his second of the night.

Not content with just scoring, John Scott contributed some other highlights as well.

Scott at one point decked Patrick Kane and got a wide open breakaway opportunity that was stymied. The failed chance saw Patrick Kane return the favor on the opposing end and score for the Central.

Kane and Scott immediately dropped their gloves and engaged in a mock fight to the delight of the Twitter-verse.

At one point John Scott was interviewed by Jeremy Roenick and proceeded to roast the NBC commentator live.

Roenick told John Scott that he didn’t thing Scott deserved to be an All-Star and that he was wrong. John replied, “Not the first time you’ve been wrong.”

To cap off the wonderful night for both the league and the Pacific Division captain, the Pacific were the unlikely winners of the NHL All-Star game.

Throughout the 1-0 Pacific victory, Nashville fans serenaded John Scott with chants of his name and “MVP! MVP!” when he took the ice.

The NHL awarded John Scott with NHL All-Star MVP award and a brand new car. Not a bad night for a guy who was forced out the door to avoid what we just witnessed.

This was an All-Star game that actually worked. The NHL made the right decision in the end – even if it was forced to by fan pressure – and allowed everyone to enjoy this game with John Scott participating.

There were lots of great moments and even some great hockey.

And one unheralded enforcer got to have the night of his life.
