Arizona Coyotes Fall To Calgary Flames 5-2
The Arizona Coyotes lost a bit of a laugher to the Calgary Flames on Monday night after Louis Domingue allowed 3 goals on the first 10 shots he faced.
After a nice run of near-immaculate goaltending, it was inevitable that the Arizona Coyotes were going to hit a snag somewhere.
Louis Domingue hit the snag and went for a loop-the-loop in the meantime with a performance both poor and unlucky that saw the Coyotes squander a 2-1 lead and lose 5-2.
Those Anthony Duclair goals, though, they were nice.
Particularly the first one, which was the result of some gorgeous tic-tac-toe play between Martin Hanzal, Max Domi, and Duclair.
I’m not sure who should get the MVP on that particular goal – Domi or Hanzal – but Duke was there to finish and for a time it looked like the rookie forward was on his way to a hat trick and the Arizona Coyotes were on their way to another victory.
Then bad defense, bad goaltending, and bad luck all struck repeatedly. Such is life.
Arizona Coyotes Player of the Game
Anthony Duclair was more or less the whole story offensively for the Yotes. Martin Hanzal had a couple of nice assists and Alex Tanguay and Max Domi show up on the scoresheet as well, but it was Duclair finally breaking out of his rut that gave the team any hope in this game.

Two goals against Calgary put the Duke’s season total at 19. Watching for Duke and Domi’s quest to 20 goals before the end of the season seems like a good reason to tune in.
The View From The 200 Level
It was simply not meant to be on Monday night for the Arizona Coyotes.
The Flames had 3 goals in their first 10 shots, including a goal on their very first shot as well as two goals on their first three shots in the second period.
Louis Domingue was not particularly sharp and the bounces simply did not go the Coyotes way even when he was in position. Nothing went right.
Despite dominating the second period and holding the Calgary Flames to just 1 shot for more than three-fourths of the frame, the Coyotes gave up two goals on three shots late and went down 3-2. From there it was all a formality. There was just no drive to get back in it like you’d expect.
