Arizona Coyotes: Players React To Doan’s Return On Twitter

Arizona Coyotes fans weren’t the only people happy to see Shane Doan sign his one-year deal. Several Coyotes players tweeted out their admiration for the returning captain.

It was a longer wait than some folks would’ve liked, but the Arizona Coyotes and Shane Doan finally put pen to paper and got the Halkirk, Alberta native back for one more season.

After scoring 28 goals last season, what other option was there?

Now, entering his 21st season and turning 40 this fall, Doan looks to continue his romp through the Arizona Coyotes record books…and perhaps make some playoff noise next spring.

Fans weren’t the only people expressing their joy at Doaner’s return on Twitter. Several of his teammates chimed in with their thoughts:

Not only did Doan return, though, but he recognizes that the cavalry he’s long been awaiting is almost fully arrived.

Whether he’s referring to the eventual need to cede more leadership and “face of the franchise” duties to Oliver Ekman-Larsson and (presumably) Max Domi, or simply the fact that he is due for a lesser role on the ice as more of the young guns make the big club, Doan seems to have it all in the proper perspective.

He’s excited to return and we’re pleased as punch to have him back and have the matter settled.

But for those cynics among us, there’s always the next deal to worry over.
