The Arizona Coyotes have reached an agreement with center Tyler Gaudet on a one-year, two-way contract for the 2016-17 season.

The Arizona Coyotes continue to flaunt their deep center prospect pool by re-signing 23-year-old Tyler Gaudet for 2016-17.

Gaudet signed the deal which is worth $874,125 if the forward is on the NHL roster, and just $70,000 if he remains in Tucson.

Gaudet played 14 games in Glendale with the Coyotes last season.

Here is the Arizona Coyotes press release on Gaudet re-signing:

"Arizona Coyotes General Manager John Chayka announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Tyler Gaudet to a one-year, two-way contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed."
"The 23-year-old Gaudet registered 1-2-3 in 14 games with the Coyotes last season and totaled 4-9-13 in 44 games with Springfield (AHL). The Hamilton, Ont. native has recorded 12-21-33 in 115 career AHL games with Springfield and Portland."
"Gaudet was signed as a free agent on November 4, 2013."

Gaudet looked primed to fill in for the now departed Boyd Gordon after last season, but with both Christian Dvorak and Dylan Strome pressing hard to make the NHL roster, as well as the signing of Ryan White to a one-year deal, that seems more and more unlikely.

Little Progress Made On Rieder, Murphy Deals

Connor Murphy and Tobias Rieder figure to be integral parts of the Arizona Coyotes’ 2016-17 campaign.

In fact, they are anticipated to be important parts of the Coyotes’ eventual push for playoff glory over the next several years.

For now, though, the pair remain at an impasse in contract negotiations with new General Manager John Chayka.

This has become a bit of a recurring theme this offseason with Chayka and his free agents, with prolonged negotiations with Shane Doan dominating the team’s narrative for a few weeks.

The pair of young Yotes appear tailor made for the approach of these “new” Arizona Coyotes under Chayka and Head Coach Dave Tippett.

Connor Murphy is the only solid top-four right-handed defenseman on the roster, and Tobias Rieder’s speed and tenacity create the kind of possession oriented forward needed to succeed in today’s mobile NHL.

It’s certain they will get signed sooner later, the real concern is whether or not these negotiations color later attempts for Chayka.

Murphy’s agent does seem optimistic, however.
