Arizona Coyotes Building Youth Hockey In Desert
Nothing creates lifelong fans quite like catching them while they are young, and the Arizona Coyotes are utilizing their “Part of the Pack” initiative to good results.
Last winter, the Arizona Coyotes did a unique jersey drive that benefited young hockey fans attending Yotes games.
If their parent brought a jersey from another NHL team and handed it in to the Coyotes jersey exchange, the kid would receive one of the new look Coyotes jerseys for 2015-16 free of charge.
The drive was a success, as you might expect.
Those newly designed Arizona Coyotes jerseys look sharp, and there were some new faces on the roster to hook kids that perhaps had not been there in years previous.
IceArizona has more irons than just that one in the fire to create a new generation of Coyotes fans.
Their “Part of the Pack” initiative with local ice rinks has kicked into full gear for the fall season of youth hockey. There are Coyotes advertisements on the boards of the rinks, and now each team’s jerseys has a “Part of the Pack” patch with a Coyotes logo on it.
My own son, a mites player, was super excited to see the Coyotes logo on his sweater. His favorite players? Shane Doan, Max Domi, and Louis Domingue, in that order. He said, “I’m excited because it means the Coyotes like my team too!”
How effective will the campaign be? Well, a definitive answer will come in a few years. For now it seems positive. A big part of it’s long term fate depends on the success of the organization’s youth movement.
Nothing hooks fans quite like winning. Ask the Chicago Blackhawks.
