Arizona Coyotes Rookie Camp A Sight For Sore Eyes

The Arizona Coyotes rookie camp is underway and it’s a sight for sore eyes.

Gila River Arena has ice and the Arizona Coyotes crop of youth is on it in full swing.

As they attempt to impress the coaching staff and make an impression (or the NHL roster), there are a few notables among the crowd.

Nick Merkley returned to the ice after suffering a torn ACL in February.

He was active on the ice and performed a fair number of cuts while stickhandling the puck which was encouraging.

Lawson Crouse, recently acquired from the Florida Panthers, cut an imposing figure on the ice. Rookie camp isn’t exactly the situation where a man of Crouse’s talents can spread his wings, however, so we’ll have to wait until training camp to really see the player Chayka acquired.

Of the goaltenders on the ice for the Yotes, there was Adin Hill and then there was the other two guys. Watching their play it felt like there was a sizable gap between the confidence and skill of Hill compared to his counterparts.

Last but not least, future franchise player Dylan Strome was impressive on Sunday. He often squared off against Christian Dvorak, and his group’s line rushes managed to find the back of the net a few times. He also helped out around the rink after practice:
