Sunday is another step in the wrong direction for both sides of this horrible Soap Opera.
This is a negotiations tactic. BUT when you’re talking to a drunk, how much can get thru to them. Owners are stubborn old rich mules who think they have more money and can outlast those who have less money. Some would rather go broke then admit wrong.
One crazy notion is the fact if this madness goes through. That nuclear winter I spoke of is here. 300+ skaters and goalies will become. FREE AGENTS! You heard it right. Sydney Crosby is coming to Jobing.com arena. Ok to play against our Coyotes. Let’s not get crazy. We could never afford him. May not want him. He is a boarding away from retirement. Teams with good young developing talent in a Tippett system does not want to start all over. Just the thought blows one’s mind.
What will happen is a nasty court battle that will pretty much end the NHL. Years of litigation. This is NOT the direction we wanted to go into. Things seemed positive. Mediation. Players and Owners only meetings. What happened? Who upset who so bad they said up yours!
One thing is for sure. The Mayans might be right about the end of the world. Without NHL hockey at least. This world will be a little less enjoyable without it.
