Phoenix Coyotes: 2012 Year in review

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. Many wins and losses both on and off the ice.

First of all who could of imagined the run in the post season? Western Conference Finals. Finally getting past the first round with an epic series vs. Chicago. The Blackhawks and Coyotes battled into overtime every game.  Definitely my #1 moment of the season.

Then of course you have the worst possible scenario. All the momentum thwarted by a work stoppage. The lockout was definitely a thorn in the paw of all Coyotes fans. It may of given the team time to get their affairs in order. Ownership should be the final piece to the puzzle for this team.

Ownership was another hot topic with Greg Jamison playing the role as savior to the Desert Dawgs. City Council votes. City of Glendale agreements that were agreed upon, then not, then renegotiated. Finally passed and referendum avoided. Unfortunately we will go into 2013 still waiting. But alas the end appears in sight. Either the deal is closed by January 31st or the City will cancel the deal per the agreement.

Shane Doan and his hat trick against the New York Islanders was very memorable. Especially in the manner it happened. Virtually at the buzzer. I was at that game as it seemed impossible he would get a shot off. A laser beam later and we went crazy. Fun to be a fan sometimes.

Time to quiet all the skeptics. The Phoenix Coyotes continue to overcome all odds on the ice, in the front office, coaching staff, etc. Now it appears the ownership aspect will finally get handled. No more excuses.  Only thing lacking is attendance, and consistent raucous crowd day 1, day 40, all the way to the Whiteout!
