There’s a plethora of goaltending talent in the NHL these days. Teams have begun to shift their focus; they’ve started to place more emphasis on the player between the pipes.

It’s easy to see that the top teams in the league have stout goaltending that makes it difficult for the opposition to score- and the glory of NHL scheduling requires each team to play every other at least once. With that being said, each team gets a chance to face some elite talent in net on a yearly basis. How do the Coyotes stack up against the big name goaltenders of this era? Howlin’ Hockey wants to know:

Which goaltender will be the toughest to face for our Arizona Coyotes this season?

The Candidates

May 14, 2014; Boston, MA, USA; Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask (40) hangs his head after the Montreal Canadiens scored during the third period of Montreal

Tuukka Rask, Boston Bruins:

Tuukka has become one of the big names in the league recently with his incredible saves and his equally enjoyable tantrums. He has been in the league for seven years and already has a Vezina trophy to his name. Even though he plays in the Eastern Conference, the yearly meetings between the Bruins and Coyotes could be tough with him in net. Will Rask ravage the Coyotes?

Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers

Lundqvist has carried the Ranger team to victory numerous times in the past and will not slow down his momentum this season. He has been nominated for the Vezina five times in his career, winning it once. His electric play contributes to the tough atmosphere that the New York Rangers bring at every puck drop. Will Lundqvist loot the Coyotes?

Quick has been a thorn in the side of Arizona for quite some time and he doesn’t look to stop pestering the Coyotes anytime soon. He has never won a Vezina but that will surely change in the future. He does, after all, have two Stanley Cups to his name. Either way, Quick is a tough competiter. Will Quick quiet the Coyotes?
