Coyotes Update: Will the flu save Arizona?

Corey Perry is out, Ryan Getzlaf is still sick (I think)

So first off, Anaheim, I know what you’re doing here.

Last year, my brother’s high school made waves when the football team won in a blowout game over their rivals- and the rivals claimed they were too scared to tackle the winners because they all had mono.

IN ANY CASE, the Coyotes need to capitalize on this being a game without Corey Perry. The first line winger is still out with ‘the flu’, so the ‘Yotes will have fewer Ducks to contend with.

In addition, I have to assume that Ryan Getzlaf won’t be one hundred percent. Let’s be honest- getting over the flu sucks, and there’s no way you can be one hundred percent healthy just days after being sent home from the Honda Center for being all sniffly and gross. The best you can hope for is that all the Airborne you downed this morning keeps your head clear enough on the ice to help you make it through the game.

The absence of Perry (and part of Getzlaf) will only do so much for the Coyotes against a team that boasts #50in07 Dany Heatley and Ryan Kesler, in addition to the surprisingly powerful Jakob Silfverberg and slew of aggressive defensemen. The Ducks are a force (maybe the strongest in the West), and let’s be honest- the Coyotes don’t have the strongest track record this season.

With the confirmation that Getzlaf is in for tonight (and Perry out, but that’s less important right now), I say the Coyotes all wear surgical masks and play the least physical game they possibly can. Can we quarantine the Ducks until we’re sure they won’t spread the flu to the entire NHL? Not okay, Anaheim.

Oh- and for those who haven’t kept up-to-date on the Ducks’ stats this season, Perry and Getzlaf are the top two in scoring this season. So.

    Take that as you will.

    Good luck tonight, Arizona!
