Drafted by the Edmonton Oilers 14th overall, 2004 NHL Entry Draft

Gagner isn’t the only player who departed from Edmonton in hopes of finding more consistency with another franchise.

Originally drafted in the first round of the 2004 Entry Draft, Devan Dubnyk has been a semi-consistent but slightly disappointing backup netminder since debuting with Edmonton in 2009. He’s had a couple above-average seasons — he posted a .920 SV% during the 2012-2013 NHL season (in which he was the team’s number one, playing 38 of the 48 games after the lockout) — but overall hopes to find improvement in Arizona.

Standing at 6 foot 6, Dubnyk is well known for his masks’ perpetual depiction of Melman the Giraffe (from the movie Madagascar), which is featured in every mask design he’s had. This year’s has Melman dressed up as a gun-slinging outlaw, which is kind of awesome but also not a Coyote, so whatever.

Goalies always seem to fall somewhere on the strange spectrum, but Dubnyk’s eccentricities just make him hilarious. If anything, he’ll bring a bright locker room presence to his new franchise, which I’m sure his old team is sorely missing:

This is my favorite video forever and ever. Also, shout-out to Tom Gilbert for consistently harassing pretty much every teammate he’s ever had.
