Whenever the Arizona Coyotes are paired up against the San Jose Sharks… I get the Joe Pavelski shakes. The guy OWNS us.

  • Point in fact: In 45 career games against the Coyotes, Mr. Pavelski has skinned the Desert Dogs with 19 Goals and 19 Assists. Add to that total (which comes to an astounding .84 pts a game) 10 power play goals, and 4 game winners. Obviously, it’s easy if you’re a Coyotes fan to hate Pavelski — it’s nothing personal, we swear — because he absolutely OWNS them with an almost personal vengeance.

I’ve watched many a game where Pavelski just pounds the dagger into our hearts with a timely goal, or a shorthanded goal just when you thought we had the Sharks number. He is a clutch player no doubt, but against the Coyotes he almost seems super-human. I bet he has fantasy dreams of playing 30 games a year against Arizona.

Part of this could be attributed to playing with BIG Joe Thornton. I mean, with him feeding you the puck, Daffy Duck could throw up some impressive numbers. Just to illustrate Pavelski’s dominance over the Yotes, here’s some data to digest: He has scored 443 points in his career. So, doing the math, he has 8.8% of his points against the Desert Dogs. If you divide up his 433 points among the 30 teams that would equate to 14.43 points against each team. He has 38 against Arizona alone. I did some research for this piece and just intermittently found some games he has played against the Coyotes.

    TAKE A GANDER:

    April 12, 2014: 2 goals

    October 8, 2011: 2 goals

    November 3, 2013: 1 goal, 1 assist

    December 23, 2010: 2 assists

So, when Pavelski (who I might call Little Joe tonight, to clear up any confusion) sees that his Sharks are playing Arizona, this big grin comes on his face (I’m just assuming that- I don’t have verifiable proof).

It happens in many sports where a particular player just has another team’s number. He can do no wrong. I can’t explain it, but for purposes of this article- I HATE IT ! !

PLEASE SOMEBODY COVER PAVELSKI LIKE A BLANKET IN WINTER FOR THE GAME TONIGHT ! !
