Bidding Biznasty Farewell: Paul Bissonnette Released From PTO
Paul Bissonnette released from PTO by Portland Pirates, destroying all hopes of a Biznasty comeback in Arizona
This is probably the most upsetting thing I’ve heard all week, and the Coyotes have lost the last three games.

According to an official statement by the Portland Pirates, Paul Bissonnette — better known to his adoring fans as Biznasty — has been released from his professional tryout contract by the AHL frachise. Per the release:
“Bissonnette was -1 through eight games played as a Pirate and was listed as a healthy scratch in both Saturday and Sunday’s games.”
It’s been a bumpy season so far for Bissonnette.
After failing to work out an extension with the Arizona Coyotes in the off-season, his PTO with the St. Louis Blues fell short of an actual deal. He then spent some time working out and practicing around North America before eventually signing with the Cardiff Devils of the EIHL (British Elite Ice Hockey League).
He wasn’t there for long before the Portland Pirates offered him a PTO themselves; while we were probably all hoping he’d make a miraculous comeback with the Coyotes, it looks like he just wasn’t a good fit. He was most likely signed on to either step in for BJ Crombeen on the chance that the new fourth liner wasn’t a good fit in Arizona, or to provide veteran leadership in Portland — but with the AHL affiliate skyrocketing up the standings, they seem to be doing just fine on their own.
I’d assume he’s headed back to Cardiff, where he exploded on offense during the 2012-2013 NHL lockout. It’s okay; we still have Twitter and Sauce Hockey.
