Santa’s Naughty List:

1. Sam Gagner. Sam Gagner was traded to the Arizona Coyotes in an exciting three-way swap with the Edmonton Oilers and the Tampa Bay Lightning at the end of the 2013-2014 season — and for the first time this season, he was a healthy scratch. He’s a -9 on the season, and hasn’t been consistent enough on offense to earn himself a guaranteed spot with the team.

We love you, Sam — but we want to see the guy who scored eight points in a single game! For now, you’re on Santa’s naughty list, because we had to put you in the press box last night.

2. Ryan Suter. Ryan Suter managed to record two assists and still finish the game a -2, so Santa needs to keep an eye on this Minnesota Wild defenseman for a bit longer before attempting to bring him any shiny new presents. He also got a high stick against big man Martin Hanzal, which gave Justin Fontaine the idea to knock out Hanzal‘s tooth in the second period of the game last night, so we can’t bring him nice things for Christmas. I’m happy that he didn’t seem to give any of the Arizona Coyotes mumps Saturday night, but he still belongs on the naughty list.

3. Tobias Rieder. I hate putting Speeder Rieder on the naughty list, but he hasn’t recorded a point since the team’s 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. He’s always got high energy, but he’s sort of doing to the Coyotes what Brad Marchand does to the Bruins — the team doesn’t win unless he records a game point. Plus, he might need that coal-like hockey puck for Christmas, so he can work on his shootouts and basically help the team win the cup next season.
