Louis Domingue Returns To Face The Rangers

Louis Domingue, Rick Nash, and other changes for the Coyotes vs Rangers

Louis Domingue has only started in one NHL game, but he’s got a perfect record so far — with only two goals against in his game against the Montreal Canadiens, Domingue is off to a pretty good start.

The team announced Wednesday morning that the twenty-two year old Quebec native was getting the call-up in time for the team’s second and final game against the New York Rangers. He’s likely already on his way to Madison Square Garden, where the team will face off tonight at 5P.M. Arizona time.

This is the second call-up the team has made this week; just a day ago, offensive prospect Henrik Samuelsson was recalled in place of demoted Jordan Martinook. Between Samuelsson and Domingue, the team is starting to look quite a bit like what we can expect to see next season.

    Domingue’s Portland Stats:

    18 Games Started
    Record: 10-6-2, 2.57 GAA, .912 SV%
    Zero PIM this season

    Game Day News:

    – With the recall of Henrik Samuelsson, the only two skaters expected to break the lineup this season who haven’t made it onto the official Arizona Coyotes roster are Max Domi (reassigned to the OHL for a final season of junior eligibility) and Mark Visentin (out for the season with a foot injury). Samuelsson was the last to get recalled likely due to a head injury at the start of the 2014-2015 season, but his seven points in twelve games likely swayed the front office towards giving him a shot.

    – On the New York Rangers front, starting netminder Henrik Lundqvist is still out with a throat injury. Winger Rick Nash was held out of New York’s last matchup with neck spasms, but it has been confirmed that he’ll be back in the lineup for tonight’s game. No word on whether this will result in the subsequent scratching of top-ranked Rangers prospect Oscar Lindberg or not.

    – Coyotes general manager Don Maloney attended the New Jersey Devils – Calgary Flames game Tuesday night; during an intermission report, he announced that the team would like to make three or four moves before the trade deadline. Players can be dealt openly until 3P.M. EST on Monday, March 2nd.

    – In the OHL, Coyotes prospect Christian Dvorak has become the third OHL player to hit 100 points, following linemate and 2015 NHL Draft prospect Mitch Marner as the second roster member of the London Knights to hit the century milestone. Not far behind is their third linemate, Knights captain and Coyotes prospect Max Domi — who, with ten fewer games on the season, has eighty-eight points and counting.

    – Mark Arcobello has recorded a goal in four of his first six games with the Arizona Coyotes. As a pending free agent, the team could look to re-sign him if they’re able to bring more size into the lineup elsewhere.

    Projected Line Combinations:

    Forwards
Lucas Lessio – Antoine Vermette – Shane Doan
Tobias Rieder – Kyle Chipchura – Sam Gagner
Martin Erat – Mark Arcobello – David Moss
Lauri Korpikoski – Joe Vitale – Henrik Samuelsson
    Scratch: BJ Crombeen

    Defense
    Oliver Ekman-Larsson – Michael Stone
    Keith Yandle – Andrew Campbell
    Brandon Gormley – Connor Murphy
    Extra Skater: Dylan Reese
