  • Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out quite the way they had hoped. The Devils — who came into the game with a .38 winning pct. over the Coyotes throughout history — were running on all cylinders for this game. It marked their fourth straight victory, pushing them to 11th in the Eastern Conference — nine points from a playoff berth.

The Coyotes’ lack of consistent offense was apparent, even though they did manage 38 shots on goal. They took a quantity over quality approach, and it seemed to be a struggle to convert the chances they received into goals. They came out with energy — and seemed to want to take over the game — but as has happened so many times this season, falling behind signaled the end. At this point, with trades imminent — it seems like the team may just be resigned to see who they get in the 2015 NHL Entry draft.
