On 10/15/14 the Arizona Coyotes battled the Edmonton Oilers at Gila River Arena. The Coyotes pulled away a 7-4 victory, powered mainly by a hat trick by Mikkel Boedker.

The “Great Dane”, started out the season strong with five goals in his first three games, including a steal and a stuff shot into an empty net at 19:33 of the last stanza, after Edmonton pulled their goalie in a desperation move to make up the two goal deficit.

Here’s what Boedker’s first goal, (a power play goal) assisted by Keith Yandle, and Mike Smith looked like.

Boedker’s comments after the game:

"“You have to find the right spots on the ice and you have to put them in,” said Boedker, the first member of the Coyotes to score five times in the first three games of a season since the franchise moved to Arizona for the 1996-97 season. “I’m getting good opportunities and my linemates are finding me. When you are hot, things tend to go in and that’s how it’s going right now.”"

Head Coach Dave Tippett had his own view:

"“It was a sloppy game by us,” Tippett said. “It seemed like pucks were bouncing all over the place and a lot of major mistakes. We got away with it, but I would like to see us be more sound.”"
