Arizona Coyotes Fan Nurse Ronda Pearson’s Rant Directed Towards Glendale Mayor, Gets Keith Oberman’s Attention

We all know ESPN’s Keith Oberman, and his controversial history in sports broadcasting. Keith went off on Ronda Pearson’s speech directed to Glendale Mayor Weiers: Here’s his commentary: CLICK HERE

Now Keith doesn’t live here, nor do I find his argument valid when he criticizes Ms. Pearson’s residence as being North Phoenix. What does it matter, Keith where she lives? Her point was she and many other Arizona Coyotes fans could lose the team they love and follow due to the actions of the Glendale politicians.

Her other point Keith completely missed about her complaint of the mayor wearing a Coyotes jersey he may not have bought, or attending hockey games for free, was that the mayor is acting hypocritically. Don’t pretend to support the team by wearing a jersey and attending some games because it helps your image. Then, get on the band wagon of the Glendale residents who are complaining about the city losing money on a deal they may have shot themselves in the foot by signing. Keith, sorry dude.. you’re clueless on this one. Stick to football.

Then, Mayor Weiers thought a good publicity stunt would be if he allowed Ronda Pearson to shoot him with a tase gun to raise money for a charity. This was a classic political move to show everyone he feels the pain of what his and the council’s actions are doing to the local hockey fans. If someone told Mayor Weiers it would get him re-elected he would probably skydive without a parachute too… this was totally done to take the attention off his actions, and make him look like some “caring, empathic” politician. Next thing you know he’ll show up at the Arizona Coyotes draft party kissing babies and the like.

I mean everywhere you look or listen on the TV or radio dial someone has something to say about the Arizona Coyotes situation, and the fate of the embattled team.

What has happened is the team filed an injunction, and was awarded a temporary restraining order. The next hearing is not scheduled until June 29th. In the meantime, the Glendale City council has scheduled an executive session for June 16th, where they are to reportedly draft in writing their wish to cancel the lease with the Arizona Coyotes to play at Gila River arena.

Local columnist Dan Bickley on his Bickley and Maratto radio show had this to say about the Arizona Coyotes situation:

I think Bickley could be right on with the team possibly moving back to Phoenix, since the Phoenix Suns are just looking for a reason to get themselves a new arena. The only problem with that would be the Arizona Coyotes (would they change their name BACK to Phoenix?) would be the secondary tenant, and the Suns would get first choice of dates, etc. Still, it could work, and I know the attendance figures were closer to 14,000 per game when the Phoenix Coyotes played there. This, even with the poor sight lines because of the ice configuration blocking the upper deck view on one end.

In the end, this is beginning to look like a game of chicken. Glendale thinks they can bully the Arizona Coyotes into renegotiating the lease deal, which is not going to happen per Coyotes President, Mr. Anthony LeBlanc. If the team wins the lawsuit the Glendale residents will have lots more to complain about their elected officials in the tune of $200 million. Let’s see how many of the current council members get re-elected next election.

Finally, with all these distractions there will be an exciting event held at the Gila River arena on June 26th. The NHL Draft will take place and a party is being held at the arena. Due to recent events, there will now be a fan rally taking place as well. Go to: #stillinGlendale on twitter for details. And, here’s the promo video, which is very well done:
