Arizona Coyotes Forward Max Domi Has All The Tools To Become A NHL Superstar
If you call yourself an Arizona Coyotes fan, you must have heard all about Max Domi. He almost made the team last season, but was sent back to the London Knights of the OHL to refine his game. Seems like he really didn’t need to do that, as he put up excellent numbers:
But, he did refine his game, and mature enough to become the team captain, showing his leadership abilities. And, now he’s ready to show everyone what he’s got. From what I saw of him in preseason games, and training camp last season he’s got plenty. The team could really use a shot in the arm on the offensive side of the puck, after last season’s miserable showing scoring goals.

The thing with Max Domi is he will make his line-mates’ games better, and putting him out there with Anthony Duclair will cause some guaranteed highlight reel goals. His agility, and speed with the puck, along with his ability to get by defenders are skills not taught as much as inherited. Although his father Tie Domi was a tough guy, he was a NHL player for some time, and Max being around that atmosphere growing up had to assist him in his own development as a hockey player.
Will Max Domi perform similar to the numbers he accumulated in the OHL? I doubt it…but then no player who breaks in ever does as well in the NHL as they did in juniors — not Gretzky, Crosby, Stamkos, Toews… it just doesn’t happen. It doesn’t happen because when they made their NHL rosters, they began playing in the BEST hockey league around. The competition is more fierce, the players are bigger, faster, stronger, and want it more than most.
Is Max Domi’s head wrapped around that concept? Can he compete at the NHL level? Yes to both… he has already started to show what he will be capable of doing on an NHL level of play.
To me, he has a decent shot to be right up there in the Crosby level of play, because when I watched Sid the Kid break in he and Domi have similar builds, with Crosby being just one inch taller than Domi. They are about the same weight at about 200 lbs. Then, when you view how Domi has a tenacity for the puck, and can pass and shoot almost as well as Crosby, you start to get excited about the prospects of a player of that caliber playing for the Arizona Coyotes — or at least I feel that way.
Now, don’t get too excited. Max Domi still must prove himself. I just know if this kid gets anything close to Sid Crosby’s star quality, Arizona will have a gold mine of a player, and I’ll just sit back and say ” I told you so.”
