All Eyes Will Be On Arizona Coyotes Rookie Sensation–Max Domi
Every once in a while a rookie will come into the NHL, and will tear the league up. Such a rookie may exist right here in the desert, by the name of Max Domi. Even though he has yet to play a NHL game, the hype buildup (I’m helping it right here…) for every fan, or sportswriter is coming to a crescendo. In Arizona, the excitement can be measured by accolades being spoken about this young prospect, and his future playing in the NHL.

Other teams have experienced this expectation of a young player being the next Crosby, Stamkos, or Toews only to be disappointed. Yet, there are plenty of success stories as well. Just look at Johnny Gaudreau of the Calgary Flames. He will be just 22 next month, but played so well last season that he had 24 goals, 40 assists for 64 points in his rookie year. Much of the Flames ability to qualify for the post season can be attributed to “Johnny Hockey”, and management’s faith in his abilities.
Another young prospect who made headlines this past season in just his third year, was the St. Louis Blues’ Vladimir Tarasenko. He really blossomed with 37 goals, 36 assists for 73 points. He also threw in eight power play goals, and six game winners. He took a whopping 264 shots, and was accurate with 14% shooting. He was awarded accordingly with a big contract of $28.5 millions for fours years. You might say he has made it.
That will be Max Domi’s goal — to make it in the NHL. The rewards are significant, and it couldn’t happen to a better young man. He stayed patient last season when he looked really ready to jump to the big time, and then GM Don Maloney wanted him to get more seasoning in the OHL. It turned out to be the right decision, and he never complained about it. He knew that his time would be arriving, especially if he showed everyone what he could do.
His time is NOW ! He will be a good NHL player. How can I tell? Just ask the experts who know this young prospect.
"“Max is a very competitive player and shows great skill as a skater, shooter and (has) the ability to finish plays,” Coyotes assistant general manager Darcy Regier said. “What he may lack in size, he makes up with an outstanding set of intangibles. He is a very dynamic player.”"
When you include Domi on the same line as Anthony Duclair, his star potential sky-rockets. He and Duclair worked some special magic together in the World Juniors’ Championship earlier this year. I’d even go so far as to say, without Duclair on the same line as Domi, they will not be as successful. They just seem to click both on and off the ice.
The wait for Max Domi’s premier NHL season won’t be much longer. I’m sure Head Coach Dave Tippett will be anxious to see what he and Duclair can do at training camp in September.
I think we can clearly give them the nickname “DYNAMIC DUO”, and can’t wait to see them both in Arizona Coyotes uniforms during the regular season.
Mark my words… Max Domi will be a household NHL name by season’s end.
HE’S THAT GOOD…
