  • OEL has shown continuous growth throughout his time as a member of the Arizona Coyotes organization. Ekman-Larsson is the whole package when it comes to offensive defensemen. He has quick hands, and a smooth skating ability, which allows him to be a commander of the blue-line.

OEL is beginning to turn into a true leader on the ice, as well. He is a prominent member on the Coyotes special teams, and possesses a solid fore-check off the rush. He contributed a total of 43 points (23 goals and 20 assists) during the 2014-2015 season. His performance sent him to last year’s All-Star game in Columbus as a reward.

OEL happened to lead the entire league in goals scored by a defenseman with his 23 as well.

Elite Prospects describes Oliver Ekman-Larsson as:

"“A highly skilled defenseman blessed with excellent hockey sense and impressive skating ability. He moves very smoothly and has incredible mobility. Also, he is very skilled with the puck and a capable playmaker with the potential to put up a good amount of points. Very poised and cool with and without the puck and rarely gets caught off guard.”"

At the age of 24, Oliver Ekman-Larsson still has a lot left to show the league. It would not be surprising if he is the fourth captain of the Arizona Coyotes after Shane Doan retires.
