Arizona Coyotes Fans Poll – Where They Should Play In ‘17

With just a two-year deal agreed upon with the city of Glendale, where will the Arizona Coyotes play in the 2017-18 season?

It’s a popular water cooler discussion topic at work, or when you’re out with your buddies, or girlfriends enjoying a brew or two.

There was plenty of controversy to go around earlier this summer when the City of Glendale decided the 15 year arena lease deal they signed, was not going to work for them, and voted to cancel the lease. This caused an obvious reaction by the Arizona Coyotes ownership, which counterpunched with a lawsuit claiming damages to the estimate of $30 million.

So, the landlord was ready to evict the tenant, and things got ugly. There were consequently endless rumors of the team moving to Seattle, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Milwaukee, Gila Bend (not really… was just checking to see if you were paying attention).

Then, the dust settled, the Arizona Coyotes ate some crow (they claimed they wouldn’t re-negotiate the lease) and the lease was re-done, but only for a short-term of two years.

Now, it can go one of two ways going forward. The city of Glendale and the Arizona Coyotes can sit down by year’s end and start meaningful discussions to extend the lease, or the team can start to look for a new home. Frankly, the length of the new agreement tells everyone with an ounce of common sense that the latter will prevail.

The city of Glendale will be making a huge mistake by not keeping the team in Glendale, and just economics alone should force them to realize they need to do what they can to keep the team in Glendale.

The economic goodwill of the Westgate City Center will be at stake, if not to mention the tax revenue which the city generates from the various businesses, restaurants, etc. in that area due to the traffic from a NHL hockey game. Nothing like 14,000 fans on average milling around the area looking to spend their hard earned money.

Okay, now on to what YOU think…
