Arizona Coyotes Klas Dahlbeck Hopes To Be NHL Ready

Klas Dahlbeck signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Coyotes, and wants to show the team they made a good choice

Dahlbeck, 24 was Chicago’s 79th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry draft, and played 19 games last season with the Arizona Coyotes, collecting three assists. He was traded to the Coyotes when Antione Vermette was sent as a rental player to the Blackhawks to help them in their Cup drive.

As things seem to turn out at times, Vermette returned to Arizona as a free agent with a two-year contract, and the Arizona Coyotes got to keep Dahlbeck.

He plays a similar style of defense as Philip Samuelsson, and will need to show management that he’s what the team needs more than Samuelsson.

The Arizona Coyotes defense is beginning to look like the Swedish connection, with Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Dahlbeck, and newly acquired Nicklas Grossmann. Add in the Samuelsson brothers (Henrik and Philip) and you get the picture.

Klas Dahlbeck already has a connection with OEL, since they were former neighbors growing up. I’m sure Dahlbeck feels right at home on the team.

Grossmann may try to take Dahlbeck under his wing, as the veteran joins the blue-line bunch. Grossmann has been known as a good locker room guy, who can motivate young players. Not sure who Dahlbeck will team up with, since it looks like Michael Stone will partner with OEL, and that leaves Michalek available to tutor Dahlbeck.

When the team didn’t keep John Moore, it looked like they wanted to see what Dahlbeck can do. Either that or Philip Samulesson will get a look as well, or Gormley will be fighting for the same spot. It should be interesting to see who prevails.

Klas Dahlbeck possesses a smooth skating style, and there may be a competition with Anthony Duclair as to whom is the smoothest skater on the Arizona Coyotes.

He may not be a top-pairing defenseman yet, but he wants to be known as a reliable force on the blue-line for years to come.

Now, he just needs to go out and show everyone what he’s got
