Arizona Coyotes Domi-Duclair Have Great Chemistry
The Dynamic Duo of the Arizona Coyotes Max Domi and Anthony Duclair is something to witness
Okay, so I went to a few training camp sessions to see how the chemistry between Max Domi and Anthony Duclair panned out. Then I attended the third annual intra-squad game between the white team, and the red team.
Domi and Duclair were members of the white team, along with Antione Vermette, who played center for that line. The experience of Vermette coupled with the energy and speed of his line-mates was special to view.

It took less than a minute to display the connection between the two young prospects, as Anthony Duclair was open in the slot, spun around and fired a wicked wrist-shot at Mike Smith, who could not stop it. To add to that feat, not much later, Duclair was breaking down the center of the offensive zone, and passed a nifty pass past the D-man right onto Domi’s stick, on the right wing. He made no mistake with it, and planted it over Smitty’s shoulder, as if he’s done it hundreds of times in the past.
I was certainly aware of how they seem to know where each other is on the ice, at all times. And the leadership of Max Domi was apparent, as he directed where he wanted his team-mates when he took an offensive zone face-off.
It’s not been planted in cement yet as to who will play center for the Dynamic Duo of Domi and Duclair, but Vermette certainly looked like he can handle it. He is the team’s number one center again, so could this be our number one line? Martin Hanzal could also be a good fit for the center-man on this line. Speaking of Hanzal, he was doing his thing screening the goalie, when he scored on a deflection for the red team on a rocket point shot from young Connor Murphy.
Mikkel Boedker also was motoring around (even without his spleen) like old times. He had a breakaway, and a shot at the shootout without being able to score in either attempt. It was great seeing these two wounded forwards back in action again. The Arizona Coyotes are no doubt a better team with them both back out on the ice.
The combination of Domi’s excellent puck possession skills and skating ability were apparent. Granted, he was playing against some other young prospects, but he also was up against some NHL players, including a pretty good goalie in Mike Smith. He handles himself very well, and indeed looks ready for the NHL. All the hype about him playing in his first NHL game will come to fruition on October 9th, when the Arizona Coyotes open their 2015-16 campaign against the arch rival Los Angeles Kings in L.A.
The way Anthony Duclair plays is with stealth like speed as he goes under the radar so that his defender doesn’t know where he is most of the time. He skates effortlessly, and when his buddy (they are buddies off the ice) Domi is around him watch for some action, because they are exceptional at creating it.
The future of the Arizona Coyotes is looking like these two young prospects will take the team to new heights. Buckle your safety belt, this is going to be GOOD.
