The Arizona Coyotes two promising prospects are tearing up the OHL.
Taking a look at the Arizona Coyotes two prospects who attended training camp, and you’ll see why the future of the team is golden. Both Dylan Strome and Christian Dvorak are playing at a phenomenal pace at this point of the season. Dvorak is leading his London Knights in scoring with 28 goals, 37 assists in just 27 games, or a 2.41 points per game ratio. Strome is killing it as well, with 16 goals, 37 assists in 25 games.

The London Knights have overwhelming offensive power with Dvorak, Matthew Tkachuk, and Mitch Marner leading the way. Those three scorers have accounted for 40 per cent of the team’s goals. Even with all their success, the Knights are 23-5-1, which puts them third in the Midwest Division of the Western Conference. Strome’s Erie Otters lead with a eye-popping 27-3-1 record.
It would be over the top if both these young prospects can make the cut for the Arizona Coyotes next season. Strome was one of the last cuts made at training camp, and GM Don Maloney has been known to bring his young players along slowly. The way Dvorak is playing he is on tap to finish the season with 163 points.
He also is great on the power play, netting 13 power play goals. That kind of scoring punch is hard to ignore, but more seasoning for Dvorak was what was decided.
Dylan Strome was much closer to making the final version of the Arizona Coyotes, and is showing he can succeed even without the great Connor McDavid alongside him. That was one of the key ingredients to formulating whether Strome was good enough on his own to prove his playing ability. This season, people will be talking about Strome, not McDavid.
The other young prospect turning heads is Matthew Tkachuk. He has 14 goals and 45 assists in 29 games, and has thrown in seven power play goals for good measure. He is projected to be the #4 overall pick in the NHL Entry Draft for 2016.

At this point, we are not sure where the Arizona Coyotes will fall in the draft order, but wouldn’t it be sweet to be able to acquire the rights to Tkachuk? He was just two when his Dad, Keith Tkachuk was the captain of the then Phoenix Coyotes. He knows the history well, and if the Yotes could land him their wealth of prospects would be exciting, to say the least.
