It’s no secret that the Arizona Coyotes prospect pool is loaded. With the ouster of Antoine Vermette, their destiny is in their own hands heading into training camp.

As an avid follower of the Arizona Coyotes, we all know about the riches awaiting the franchise in the AHL and junior hockey.

Names like Dylan Strome, Christian Dvorak, Conor Garland, and Brendan Perlini have been bandied about endlessly by fans who have suffered for several years under the gloomiest of hockey circumstances.

There’s a ray of light at the end of the tunnel, finally, and due to some recent moves by General Manager John Chayka the Coyotes are coming up on the proverbial “promised land” a little more quickly.

With Antoine Vermette’s buy out and departure, Arizona now has three empty forward spots on it’s roster.

Previously, we had written about how nearly every objective viewer would come to the conclusion that Christian Dvorak had earned the call over Dylan Strome if only one were to make the team.

Now, though, there’s room for both.

There are three empty spots on the roster and a handful of prospects vying for them. For these young gentlemen, they have what they’ve longed for all of their lives. An unfettered opportunity to make an impression and move up the ladder.

Who will make the leap to Glendale or get left behind in Tucson or juniors? Your guess is as good as mine.

If I had to put money on a trio, however, I’d wager on Tyler Gaudet and Dylan Strome, with Christian Dvorak playing the wing in his first NHL season.

Then again, Chayka could easily locate a veteran presence he prefers and cut the available slots back down to two.
