Arizona Coyotes Face Harry Potter’s Sorting Hat
The Arizona Coyotes have a great mix of talent and determination, both great traits for hockey. They are also important traits for attending Hogwarts.
Four games are in the books for the Arizona Coyotes.
After a thrilling opening night victory, the team has fallen on hard times losing three straight.
Fans, writers, and coaches alike are trying to sort this team out and determine what the next step might be.
One thing that could help sort these players out is Hogwarts’ own Sorting Hat.
Let’s see what house some of the 2016 Arizona Coyotes are placed in.
Hard Working and Dedicated.

Jordan Martinook
The ever likable Jordan Martinook. Jordan is always looking to make a play however he can.
Hufflepuff’s animal is the badger, and is there anyone more honey badger like on the Arizona Coyotes roster?
Offensively, defensively? Martinook doesn’t care. He is willing to do what it takes for the team, not the stat sheet.
No one dislikes Hufflepuff, and his nickname is Heartinook, what more do you need?
Radim Vrbata
Radim’s loyalty may have been questioned, but he did return to the Arizona Coyotes and openly stated that he never had any real desire to leave.
Vrbata is always looking to include everyone with his passing. Vrbata lands in Hufflepuff mainly because of his potential, we have seen a lot of him, but is it his best?
Martin Hanzal
Strong hardworking and loyal.
One of those guys who wear the “A” on their sweaters. Always hustling to make a play.
He is the silent leader of the Coyotes and for that he gets sorted into Hufflepuff.
Creative and Unique.
The group that group that goes unnoticed. No one ever really talks about Ravenclaw.
Known for their creativity, originality, and wit, Ravenclaws are oft-underappreciated but useful in a pinch.
Clayton Keller
We don’t really know how witty Keller might be, but we do know he’s confident
Beyond that, he was drafted 7th overall for his unique approach in the offensive zone.
Among Arizona players, Keller is about as original as it gets. It will take a lot of changing from him to fit into Dave Tippett’s system, or a lot of changing of the system to suit Clayton Keller.
Still, with his puck wizardry it’s hard to imagine him not making a splash in the NHL.

Anthony Duclair
Creativity is kind of the Duke’s thing.
Initially, it seemed he’d be in Gryffindor with his best buddy Max Domi, but Duke’s unique skillset on a mostly un-creative Arizona Coyotes roster makes him the perfect fit for Ravenclaw.
Connor Murphy
Connor Murphy is the Luna Lovegood of the Coyotes. Luna contributes a key role towards the end of the series, but it wasn’t expected upon her first appearance.
Murphy continues to standout as the oddball contributor to the Coyotes, using his large frame and knack for getting under the skin of opponents to the team’s advantage.
Maybe They’re Good, Maybe They’re Bad. Maybe Don’t Mess With Them.
Cunning, resourceful, and perhaps a little bit cutthroat. Members of Slytherin are known to be a little selfish, a little evil, or a little bit of both.
Ryan White
He looks like the older darker haired version of Draco Malfoy.
Aside from looks he is always there to annoy the opponent and antagonize them. Maybe he’ll even take a bad penalty or two.
He isn’t afraid to get physical, and this sorts him right into Slytherin.
White could substitute in as the third goon next to Crabbe and Goyle.
Mike Smith
Is he bad? Good?
Is he good, yet has bad games?
Or is he the bad guy who does good things every now and then?

Can he be consistently good? That’s something that hasn’t been seen from a Slytherin.
The crazy ups and downs in Smitty’s game land him in Slytherin. The Professor Snape of the Coyotes; perhaps we won’t realize how good he is until it is all said and done.
Jamie McBain
With a name like McBain, where else would he be sorted?
Like many members of Slytherin, Jamie McBain elicits fear when he’s on the ice.
Unfortunately for the Arizona Coyotes, the fear is in their own fan base.
Brave, Strong, and the Heroes of the Story.
The steady backbone of the Harry Potter universe, Gryffindor’s are supremely brave and sometimes a little foolhardy. They are cool under pressure.
Shane Doan
This one is kind of a “gimme”.
Shane Doan may not have chosen this winding path when he was drafted, but he has embraced it.
Doan has led the team through triumph and defeat, white-outs and ignominy.
No matter the situation he remains unshaken and has the team ready to take on the unthinkable.
Max Domi
Domi gets sorted into Gryffindor for his passion and strength.
His courage is unequaled, and his work off the ice is even better.

Though he might not ascend to the captaincy immediately when Doan retires, Domi has all the markings of a true successor to Doan’s stellar leadership.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson
Is there anything about this guy that doesn’t scream Gryffindor?
If Doan draws comparisons to Harry Potter, then OEL is without a doubt his Ron Weasley. Just like Ron did for Harry, Ekman-Larsson always comes through for Doan in the clutch.
