New players and some rising expectations for the Arizona Coyotes open plenty of opportunities for these three players to have a possible breakout season

With the new season quickly approaching, there is plenty of optimism surrounding the Arizona Coyotes with a revamped offense, and being able to keep their defense together for the upcoming season.

Now, the big question is; who will be taking that next step up for the Coyotes, and have a breakout season?

Here is what we think!

Dylan Strome

Although it may not a surprise pick, Strome is definitely one of the players on the Coyotes roster who may just be able to finally have that breakout season to solidify a full-time NHL spot for himself this season with the Coyotes.

Through 21 games last season with the Coyotes, Strome notched 9 points. He mostly spent his season with the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners, notching 53 points to help them clinch a spot in the 2018 Calder Cup Playoffs. In the playoffs, Strome had 8 points in 9 playoff games before the Roadrunners were eliminated by the Texas Stars.

Since being drafted with the 3rd overall pick by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft,  some worry has been generated that Strome may be a bust — however, following a dominating season with the Roadrunners, and the Coyotes moving in a new transition that is based on youth and speed, do not be surprised if Strome surprises everyone and has a breakout season for the Coyotes next season.

Vinnie Hinostroza

After being acquired in a multi-player trade with the Chicago Blackhawks, the Coyotes acquired Hinostroza at a point of his career where he is seeking to redeem himself with a young and talented Coyotes roster.

According to an article written by John Dietz of the Daily Herald, Coyotes GM John Chayka said, ” He plays at a super high pace, one of the highest paces in the league, he is skilled, he is smart and he reads the play extremely well. He gets out in open ice and he makes a lot of things happen.”

A Chicago native, Hinostroza quickly became one of the Blackhawks promising up-and-coming talent as the Blackhawks were been able to build him into a top-six forward with his speed and overall gritty style of play — and the Coyotes should be able to reap the rewards of their hard work.

Jakob Chychrun

Through the past two seasons that Chychrun has spent with the Arizona Coyotes since being drafted by the team in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Chychrun has been able to develop at a steady rate. After suffering a lower-body injury late last season, it will be interesting to see how Chyrchrun is able to respond to help the Coyotes make a push for a successful 2018-19 season.

When healthy, Chychrun brings another physical presence to the Coyotes blue line but that should not be overlooked by his ability to move the puck up the ice for quick transitions, and his ability to read the play in the offensive zone to generate scoring chances for himself and his teammates — something that will be a common theme for the upcoming season.

Wrap up

Although only time will tell how successful these players will be in the 2018-19 season, these are three players who are hungry and willing to be better, and with plenty of changes during the offseason to the Coyotes, do not be surprised if these three players break out of their shell next season.
