The Arizona Coyotes affiliates, the Tucson Roadrunners, will be represented by two players at the upcoming AHL All-Star Game the team has announced.

Defenceman Kyle Capobianco and forward Conor Garland were announced as the two Tucson Roadrunners to be named to the prestigious All-Star Classic – set to take place between the 27th and 28th January in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The team’s representation at the competition highlights what has been an exceptional season for the Coyotes’ AHL affiliates.

The Roadrunners currently sit second in the Pacific Division, sporting a 17-9-4 record – 6-3-1 in their last ten games.

Capobianco, a third round (63rd overall) selection by the Coyotes in the 2015 draft, currently leads the Roadrunners in total points with 25 (four goals, 21 assists) – despite playing along the blueline.

The former Sudbury Wolves captain has been in fine form this season and his strong campaign could be an indication that he is ready to start pushing for a spot on the Coyotes’ roster next season – though the team is currently stacked with talent on defence.

Meanwhile Garland, a fifth round (123rd overall) selection in the same draft, has shown that he truly is one of the best forwards in the minors – registering 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) in just 18 appearances so far.

Garland spent a brief spell with the Coyotes in the NHL this season, with two goals and two assists in 12 games – with a strong 52.4% Corsi rating.

The 22-year-old winger is looking to have a potentially bright future in the NHL and could develop into a surprising talent, despite being selected deeper into the draft.

The Tucson Roadrunners have had an impressive spell for the past two seasons, winning the Pacific Division in 2017/18 – something that can only benefit the Coyotes in the long-run.

Having a solid farm system is the way to build a strong franchise in the NHL, with the Toronto Maple Leafs currently showing the results of their development process are worth the wait.

The Tucson Roadrunners will be proud to have two players represent them in Springfield and everyone within the Coyotes organisation will be thrilled – with Clayton Keller himself being named an NHL All-Star earlier this week also.
