The Arizona Coyotes will face off against the New York Rangers tonight at 4 pm. You have to love those eastern conference games… Anyway, it is going to take a lot for the Coyotes to win, so let’s jump in with the full game preview.

David Quinn and the New York Rangers looked great in the first two games of the season. In the first two games of the season, the Rangers had 10 goals, since then it has been a different story.

The Rangers have scored 7 goals in the last 4 games. They have been led by Mika Zibanejad who has 11 points, and 4 goals. Artemi Panarin is also a threat on the ice, he too has 4 goals. The Arizona Coyotes will need to make sure they know where Panarin and Zibanejad are at on the ice at all times.

We have talked a lot about the special teams and scoring first as big keys to the game for the Coyotes, and although it has been true today we will take a different approach. Let’s look at some keys to winning the game today for the Coyotes.

1 Win the depth battle

When you look at the New York Rangers top line it features their top 3 point-getters. However, when you look at the Coyotes they are getting depth scoring all over the place. If the Arizona Coyotes want to win against the New York Rangers it will all hinge on getting goals from players in their bottom six.

The Rangers have 1 goal from their bottom six so far this season, while the Coyotes have 4. Let’s see the ‘Yotes bottom 6 continue to make an impact.

2 Capitalize on scoring chances

The New York Rangers give up a lot of chances. The Rangers have given up 111 high danger scoring chances against while only generating 77 according to hockey reference. If the Coyotes can score on just 2 or 3 chances tonight they will be better suited to win.

3 Net front presence once again

The New York Rangers have two very talented goaltenders. Henrik Lundqvist made 40 saves against the Vancouver Canucks just two nights ago. Whether or not Lundqvist plays tonight one thing is for certain.

The Arizona Coyotes need to get pucks on net and have bodies there to jam loose pucks in if they want to win. Getting a shot on net is great, but it means nothing unless you can get a third or fourth shot on the net too.

I know I am going to enjoy watching the game tonight. According to the Action Network, the Arizona Coyotes have a 66% chance betting odds at winning tonight’s game. I have never been a betting type of guy but those are some pretty good numbers.
