John Chayka and the Arizona Coyotes might just be able to make the playoffs this season. I know we are getting ahead of ourselves, but let’s entertain the thought for a bit and look at some possible trade deadline targets!

The Arizona Coyotes could very well be competing for a playoff spot in February, and they might need some reinforcements for the team,

Erik Gustafsson –  Chicago Blackhawks

Can the Arizona Coyotes make any more trades with the Chicago Blackhawks? Sure! Why not add one more trade to the list between these two teams!

Erik Gustafsson is playing this season on an expiring contract. The Chicago Blackhawks are not going to have a lot of cap space this offseason to re-sign Erik Gustafsson, especially considering they have not offered Dylan Strome a contract yet.

Gustafsson had a career year last season, putting up 60 points.

The Arizona Coyotes would only benefit from adding Gustafsson on the back-end, of course, it would probably be for just the one season and hopeful playoff run. However, adding Erik Gustafsson to the power play and letting him run wild and make plays from the blue line would only make the team better.

Chris Kreider – New York Rangers

Chris Kreider has done it all for the New York Rangers, and at 28 years old he still has a lot of great hockey in front of him. Although I fully expect him to re-sign with the New York Rangers the Coyotes could take a run at trading for Kreider to add some depth to the top 9.

I believe this trade all would depend on how players on expiring contracts are playing in December and January. Only time will tell with Chris Kreider.

Martin Hanzal – Dallas Stars

The Coyotes team Hanzal left in 2017 is not the same in Arizona now. Hanzal is older, and Arizona, to put it frankly, is better. When Hanzal left the Coyotes he left in hope of winning a Stanley Cup. This is what Hanzal said immediately after the trade.

I have a shot at winning the Stanley Cup this year. That’s something I’m really looking forward to.

Martin Hanzal did not end up winning the Stanley Cup with the Minnesota Wild and now finds himself playing on the Dallas Stars.

Dallas is not off to a great start this season. They are now 3-7-1 on the season and are out of a playoff spot. Of course, it is too early to tell but if Dallas is selling at the deadline maybe Hanzal is a piece up for grabs.

Martin Hanzel is on a 4.75 million dollar contract with a modified no-movement clause. However, adding the 31-year-old back to the team might be a great piece to the Coyotes success this season.

Obviously, this is just a hope and a prayer but adding Martin Hanzal back to the Arizona Coyotes would be a win in my mind. Hanzal played in 456 games with the Arizona Coyotes, maybe we can add another 20+ games before a playoff run this fall.

Conclusion

There are a lot of great players to have on your radar during the year. Arizona is fit to make a run for the Stanley Cup, or at least make the playoffs. If they want to succeed you need to add help from someplace else, time will tell if the Arizona Coyotes do decide to trade for someone. Also, if they do make a trade who would we give up?
