The Arizona Coyotes fell short last night against the Montreal Canadiens. Although the team lost big time we do have some takeaways to look at.

Jakob Chychrun scored the only goal for the Coyotes last night. The Coyotes are coming off of a 4 game road trip where they finished 3-1. After a big win in Buffalo, the ‘Yotes came home to play a well-rested team. Does that sound familiar?

The Arizona Coyotes last lost to the New York Islanders in New York last week. The Islanders beat the Coyotes after having a few days to rest and study up on the team. Although I would like to see the Coyotes win every game sometimes it just does not happen.

Montreal was faster, and they made the Coyotes look sloppy tonight. The Canadiens played a very systematically sound game, something the ‘Yotes try to do night in and night out. Just here what Rick Tocchet said after the game.

I had one issue with the game tonight. The second goal for the Canadiens was scored after Antti Raanta lost his skate blade and was caught outside of his net.

In the NHL when a goalie loses a mask or a glove, the play is called dead. How long before the NHL will call the game dead from a lost skate blade?

This is happening at a faster rate with how skates are made, and honestly, that goal should not have happened. It would not have mattered if the ‘Yotes came back to win, but it was the game-winning goal tonight for the Canadiens so something should change with that rule moving forward.

The Montreal Canadiens outplayed the Arizona Coyotes in almost every category tonight. If the ‘Yotes want to win games more they are going to need to out shoot the other team, and not get drastically out hit.

The Coyotes will be back in action on Saturday, after some much-needed rest!
